Perhaps you need to sharpen your tools.

The National Association of Colleges and Employers did a survey of employers a few years ago, asking them what qualities employers want from college graduates. And guess what? Communication skills came in at #1, tying with honesty/integrity. Interestingly, employers also found that communication skills were the skills most lacking. You can read the article at http://www.naceweb.org/press/display.asp?year=2003&prid=169.

This issue's tip shows one way to stand out during a presentation, by displaying a YouTube video in PowerPoint.

Put a YouTube video in PowerPoint
You can embed a YouTube video into a PowerPoint presentation. For example, your company may have videos on YouTube that you would like to show. If you're sure that you'll have a live Internet connection when you present, you can use this method...

But PowerPoint is only a small part of the equation in presentation skills.

YOU are the presentation and PowerPoint is just an aid. It's easy to forget that it's not just enough to learn how to use PowerPoint, you have to learn how to persuade.

During my 13 years writing about, and teaching, PowerPoint and presentation skills, I've discovered that the tools of persuasion are often dull, or even missing all together.

That's why I wrote The Lost Art of Persuasion. This e-book isn't about PowerPoint skills; it's about how to structure a persuasive presentation. The book is short, but condenses a great deal that I've read and learned over the last many years.

Because of the current economic times, I believe that it's essential for everyone to learn how to stand above the rest. This book can help you do that.

I've put together a package to make it easier, and give you a great value in both soft and hard skills, so you can sharpen your tools.

This package is available only from this RSS feed (and my newsletter), not from my Web site, and is valid through June 30, 2009 only.

Special Package: 101 Tips Every PowerPoint User Should Know plus The Lost Art of Persuasion

Read more about 101 Tips Every PowerPoint User Should Know at http://www.ellenfinkelstein.com/estore/101tips2003.html. I sell it for $15 and it's my most popular product. Read more about The Lost of Persuasion at http://ellenfinkelstein.com/estore/lost_art_of_persuasion.html. I sell it for $9.97.
Price for the two together: is $19.97. It's like getting The Lost Art of Persuasion for $4.97.
